The last constructive lecturing was when you were taught not to piss on yourself as a toddler. Seriously, hate being lectured much as I do? “Art has to be structured in this style…look a certain way…balance out color in this manner” and so on until you feel like puking and wonder why you bother!
Screw all that, art, by it’s very nature has no rules. Make them up, twist your internal visions into whatever form you wish, you’ll know when it’s correct, no one else can or has the right to dictate that.
Can you imagine the titanic ego of someone who believes they have that right? Set your mind free, let it soar!
A thriving industry, which stridently attempts to set imaginary rules about what is natural concerning art, feeds off intimidating those that create, bring beauty to the world. Most likely they’re attempting to compensate for some shortcoming of their own. Ignore their self important braying, because if one person connects with your vision, you’ve enriched a soul. That, my friend, is the purest good and the goal of art. Never let up, never stop!
As for me, I’ve felt Death’s icy embrace, compared to that, critics are nothing more than talking urinal cakes, only not as useful.
