Advice, usually bad advice, is freely given, but the true, long term cost of acceptance and implementation may be dire indeed.
Be wary of those who are easy with the “just trying to help you” comments, usually unsolicited. Agendas abound in the art world, or life for that matter, when potential profit is involved.
I value my own council, learning young to keep my mouth firmly shut and ears open. A good lesson from my Father, well learned. People say amazing things, betraying true motives if allowed to ramble on uninterrupted. Just try it out for yourself, don’t believe me, be skeptical.
Listening seems to be a lost art in itself, but I find it protects my interests and keeps those with adverse motives at bay. If you master the art of listening, thank my Father, his gift to me and mine to you.
